Hello people! Hope everybody is keeping safe and well.

Dealing with winter, for me is quite challenging. Most of the time I suffer from common cold. Now, it’s getting warmer with each day and summer is almost here. While welcoming summer one more productive week is going to wrap-up. Let’s quickly recap what happened this week.

Hands-on workshop with Ministries users on NPBMIS

Workshop on NPBMIS

Last Friday the National Project Bank Management Information System (NPBMIS) hands-on workshop was held by National Planning Commission (NPC) at Basera Boutique Hotel. Bibhusan Bista, Punya Ruchal, and Saroj Bista attended the workshop with ministries users on the uses and operation of the NPBMIS. The workshop has been very much fruitful and we received positive feedback from the line ministries on the system.

Training session at NASC

Prashant Shrestha conducting the session

A training session was conducted at NASC to guide the invigilators to map the knowledge, attitude, and practices of local government elected officials on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) through Kobo toolkit. This survey is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Finance, Nepal Administrative Staff College, and UN Women. The survey will help to assess individual and institutional capacities, practices, and challenges related to GESI and GRB at the local level. The findings will be useful to prepare national, provincial, and local strategies for ensuring GESI and GRB in planning and budgeting activities.

Knowledge sharing session on Figma variants

On March 3rd, Nirja Gauchan Shrestha gave us an informative knowledge sharing session & demo on Figma variants.

Variants are a new way to group and organize similar components into a single container. It helps to make components simpler to use, easier to find in Assets panel & more aligned with front-end code.

The session focused on the advantages of using variants and how it makes the designer & developers workflow easier. She gave us the demo of creating organized components with help of variants. Here are the links of the presentation:

Bibha’s New Read

This week our colleague Bibha Tandukar (Bibhs) read a new book “Kafka on the Shore” by Haruki Murakami. “Kafka on the Shore” is a 2002 novel by Japanese author Haruki Murakami. Its 2005 English translation was among “The 10 Best Books of 2005” from The New York Times and received the World Fantasy Award for 2006.

Here’s her experience and thoughts about the book in her own words.

My read this week was Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. Reading Murakami’s work is always a delight. The protagonists are Kafka, a fifteen years old runaway and Nakata, an old man with peculiar talents, thanks to an accident he had when he was a child. The two are as different as two individuals can be, but their worlds are intertwined to one another.
This book has to be my favorite so far. A spellbinding plot with Murakami’s fascinating storytelling. It’s definitely a book to be read again and again.

That’s all for this week! See you next week. Have a nice weekend! ✌🏽
